to New Economics for Women (NEW) at their Canoga Park Women’s Business Center. The funding is for the nonprofit to construct a new mixed-use development that includes affordable housing and space for economic mobility programs in Reseda.
Maggie Cervantes, NEW’s executive director, said that the funding would expand the nonprofit’s “economic mobility footprint.”
NEW, founded in 1985, aims to reduce poverty and build economic mobility, particularly for Latinas and their families. The nonprofit’s programs include business development services and microfinancing, afterschool enrichment and workforce readiness programs, immigration services, home buying and homeownership counseling, public benefits screenings and more.
