VAN NUYS (CNS) – A suspect shot in the hip by a Van Nuys homeowner during an abortive home invasion robbery was being treated today in the county jail medical ward.
The break-in occurred in the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue around 11:10 p.m. Monday Sept.15, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Don Muniz.
Muniz said the homeowner fired on the suspect with a handgun after he was allegedly attacked by the intruder, who was identified as Grachia Nalbanyan, 25 of Glendale.
Nalbanyan, who was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon is currently on federal probation for possession of a firearm.
Nalbanyan was treated at a hospital before being transferred to the county jail.
