RESEDA (CNS) — A 14-year-old boy who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Reseda is in custody, police said.
The 28-year-old woman told police she was riding her bicycle near the Los Angeles River, west of Corbin Avenue, about 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 14 when she was attacked by a male, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
“The victim was knocked off her bicycle by the male, who then attempted to sexually assault her,” a police statement said. “As the attacker began to hit the victim, she fought back and screamed for help.”
The suspect ran away and the woman called police.
“Responding to the area, LAPD West Valley officers spotted a 14-year-old juvenile male who matched the description provided by the victim,” police said. “A field ‘show-up’ was conducted, and after the victim identified the youth as the assailant, he was arrested for attempt rape.”
The woman was examined at a hospital and released. The suspect, whose name was withheld, is being detained at Sylmar Juvenile Hall, police said.
