SANTA CLARITA (CNS) — A 29-year-old Santa Clarita mother who had been missing for nearly a week apparently left the area voluntarily and has been spotted multiple times in Northridge and Ventura County.
Sheriff’s officials said it is unclear why Kristin Whitney Ghilardi failed to notify her family and friends of her location, but they said witness sightings determined that she was not in distress and “appeared to be doing fine,” so the department has ended its search.
Ghilardi had last been seen at a friend’s home in the Canyon County area between 2 and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, saying she was going to take a homeless man named Patrick to visit his probation officer in Simi Valley, according to sheriff’s officials and relatives. Her family reported her missing on Aug. 28, after she failed to return and pick up her 10-year-old son.
The last contact she had with her mother came by phone at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, officials said.
