LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A food drive will be conducted at tonight’s USC-Cal State Northridge men’s basketball game at Galen Center, with fans who bring a canned good receiving two free tickets.

All canned goods will be donated to the LA Regional Food Bank.

The game marks the start of Tackle Hunger, a joint effort by USC and UCLA to benefit the LA Regional Foodbank, which distributes 1.1 million pounds of food each week through more than 700 agencies. More than 1,000 agencies remain on a waiting list, according to Andy Morris, the LA Regional Foodbank’s director of communications & marketing.

Other events include a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless Wednesday night at the women’s volleyball match between top-ranked USC and UCLA at Galen Center and a fundraising effort at Saturday’s USC-UCLA football game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum featuring “The Last Man on Earth” star Will Forte, a UCLA alumnus, and fellow Emmy nominee Timothy Olyphant (“Justified”), a USC alumnus.
