Hundreds of cars are lined up today (Thursday, April 23) in the city of San Fernando today for a food giveaway held at Magaly’s Tamales on Maclay Avenue. The food giveaway is scheduled to continue until all of the food is given away.
The food giveaway to help families during the COVID-19 Stay-at-home directives was provided largely through a donation from Yasiel Puig and his Wild Horse Foundation with additional donations from food vendors and support from the city of San Fernando.
Puig placed a video on Twitter announcing that he would be there to help pass out food and he said today’s event was being held so that “You could stay at home and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.” Puig said he wanted the day to be calm.
San Fernando Police Department is currently routing the traffic through the city’s streets as volunteers hand out food, sanitizer, gloves and facemasks to drivers.
“Yasiel Puig and his Wild Horse Foundation are always wanting to give back to the community and we are so blessed that they always think of our city of San Fernando,” a statement read on the restaurant’s instagram page. “Thank you to the city of San Fernando for allowing this to happen, and to everyone who has contributed.”
