Homeless Encampment in Pacoima Removed

Sanitation workers spent a week cleaning up a homeless encampment created underneath the 118 Freeway at Paxton Street and Bradley Avenue in Pacoima. An estimated 65 residents “were housed, property managed in accordance with the law, and that our public right of way was properly cleaned and secured,” according to the Facebook page of LA Councilmember Monica Rodriguez, in whose (7th) district the removal took place. The action had been planned for a year, and more than 15 tons of materials were removed, the page stated. A note was left on the fence informing people where to call and find out if any personal items that were removed could be recovered.
