California State Senator Caroline Menjivar has secured $3 million in state funding for critical water infrastructure projects for the City of San Fernando. Senator Menjivar, who represents Senate District 20, which includes the cities of San Fernando and Burbank, and SFV communities, announced the funding award to San Fernando Mayor Celeste Rodriguez and City staff at San Fernando City Hall on Aug. 31. A representative of Senator Menjivar presented a check to the mayor and other staff members later that day during the City’s 112th birthday celebration. The funds will be used for capital improvements, specifically for a nitrate removal project for a City water well that has recently registered high nitrate levels. The City serves approximately 1 billion gallons of water annually to residential and commercial customers. PHOTO CREDIT: David Jimenez
