The 4th Annual Independence Day Drone Show & Beach Party will be held this Sunday, June 29, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center.
The use of drones for the public celebration has become a popular and safe alternative to standard fireworks. With Los Angeles communities still trying to recover from the devastating fires that impacted local communities – the drone show is now preferred.
“At first, I didn’t think I would like it, but it’s awesome,” said one resident who lives by the park. “I didn’t know you could do so much with drones; it’s a real production.”
This year, people can watch the show poolside and will even be allowed to watch the show while swimming in the pool. Bring your floaties, beach towels and chairs and enjoy the show under the stars with music and food trucks.
Another fun activity offered this summer is the addition of paddle boats. If you’ve never tried riding one, you can give it a try and rent one at the recreational lake during the summer months. They are open all summer long, every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can enjoy the half-hour ride for $8 for adults and $6 for kids.
The park at Hansen Dam also has a sand beach, children’s wading pond, boat launching ramps and docks and fishing platforms. The recreation area is open Monday through Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
