Los Angeles Unified School District’s (LAUSD) All-District Honor Marching Band was honored in a special ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 23, with a participation flag a little more than a week before they are set to perform in the 137th Rose Parade.

The flag was presented by Tournament of Roses President Mark Leavens at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in LA during a band rehearsal. Composed of 330 students from different LAUSD schools, the band is practicing their musical drills and building up their endurance to prepare for the 5.5-mile parade in Pasadena.
Founded in 1972, the marching band has participated annually in the Rose Parade since 1973, and is only one of four bands granted an automatic invitation to the New Year’s Day event.
