The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) broke ground on Wednesday, March 25, for the electrification of the Sun Valley Bus Garage, where a $72 million infrastructure investment will power LAUSD’s fleet of electronic school buses. The facility will feature 180 charging stations, including Level 3 chargers that will allow the district to charge buses during off-peak hours and sell stored energy back to the grid during periods of peak demand. The groundbreaking was attended by LAUSD Acting Superintendent Andres Chait, Board Member Kelly Gonez and Chief Eco-Sustainability Officer Christos Chrysiliou. (Photo Courtesy of LAUSD)
