Showing You Care

The passing of loved ones is always a difficult and emotional experience. It falls on the living to honor the deceased according to their customs and traditions.
One tradition of honoring a passed life is to place an obituary in a newspaper. An obituary is an announcement that not only denotes a person's death but also provides biographical information that gives the reader insight into what the person was like in life. In this time of need, the San Fernando Valley Sun/El Sol newspaper would like to make it easy and affordable to pay tribute to your loved one by running an obituary in our newspaper.
Please call us at (818) 365-3111 ext. 153 and we will help you create something special or submit your obituary online.
Even after retirement in Mt. Shasta, he continued to “cut hair” for many more years including giving haircuts to his close (and sometimes homebound) friends in their basements or kitchens or wherever sufficient lighting permitted. He enjoyed that banter and camaraderie of the barbershop and kept his barber’s license active for over 60 years. He had a passion for the outdoors especially fishing, boating, horseback riding and hunting. He actively volunteered for many years for the Independent Order of Foresters, American Legion Post 92 McCloud and Knights of Columbus eventually becoming a Fourth Degree Knight.
Leon was extremely proud of his three daughters, Rebecca Wolfe Mumford (Tom) of Napa, CA, Renee Wolfe Uhalde (Robin) of Cottonwood, CA, Yvonne Wolfe of Granada Hills, CA and his only grandson, John Mumford of Napa, CA. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many special friends in San Fernando, Mt. Shasta, McCloud and the CalVet Home in Redding.
A Rosary will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mt. Shasta, CA. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Knights of Columbus Chalice Fund, c/o St. Anthony Catholic Church, 507 Pine St., Mt. Shasta, CA 96067.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the CalVet Home in Redding for their loving care and support.
