For 25 years, obstetrician, board member and department chairman Kevin Gallivan, M.D., cared for expectant mothers and their babies at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, bringing thousands of new lives into the world.

Though he died of brain cancer in June at age 58, Dr. Gallivan’s memory lives on through his family, friends and colleagues at the hospital. All have worked together to fund a beautiful gallery hallway to honor his legacy and celebrate the joy of the new, thriving life born within the hospital walls each day.

Hospital leaders and nurses, joined by Dr. Gallivan’s loved ones for a blessing ceremony on Tuesday, March 19, as they unveiled the gallery –- a collection of 50 black-and-white portraits of families thriving after successful deliveries at the hospital, completed with a hand-drawn mural.

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center’s labor and delivery unit is one of the busiest in the San Fernando Valley, with 3,162 babies delivered last year, including 33 sets of twins. The gallery will bring joy to those walking the hallways, a reminder of the precious lives the hospital welcomes and cares for every day.
