Granada Hills Charter High is eager to prove itself a challenger to Birmingham Charter High when West Valley League play begins. But after pounding Arleta in the season opener, the Highlanders (1-2) have been blasted in their past two games by Hart High of Newhall and Palisades High of Pacific Palisades while enduring some key injuries to their running backs.
Getting that momentum back against a rejuvenated Kennedy team may not be easy. The Cougars (3-0) are off to their best start since 2005 with victories over Rosemead, Chavez, and most recently Monroe. And they should definitely be a factor in what is shaping up to be a wide open race in the Valley Mission League.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, at Kennedy High School.
