Arleta High can take a big step toward the East Valley League title with a victory over Grant High on Friday, Oct. 22.
The Mustangs (6-2, 4-0) are the only undefeated team remaining in league play. They have already defeated Verdugo Hills, which rose up last week and upset Grant (4-4, 3-1). Grant and Verdugo Hills each have one league loss; the remaining East Valley teams have at least two or more league defeats.
If the Lancers knock off the Mustangs, there could be a three-way tie for first place between Arleta, Grant and Verdugo Hills going into the season’s final games next week. If Arleta wins, and Verdugo Hills loses to Chavez, the Mustangs would be league champs outright.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Grant High School.
