Mia, a senior at Panorama High School, was recently surprised with a $40,000 college scholarship from the College Board and its BigFuture program. She was one of two nationwide $40,000 scholarship winners for the month of September 2022.

“We are incredibly proud of Mia and the proactive work she completed to ensure her future is bright with opportunities,” Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said. “This is an example of what the possibilities are when students take small steps to pursue their dreams.”

BigFuture recommends small steps that all students — despite their high school, where they live or what college they’ll be attending — can take to explore career interests, identify potential majors, find colleges and scholarships and access financial aid. By taking these small steps, BigFuture provides students with the opportunity to be selected for a scholarship. Through this program, two $40,000 and hundreds of $500 scholarships — totaling more than $3 million — will be awarded each month to the class of 2023 students through February 2023.
