Just like in 2015, CHIRLA [Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles] again denounces Donald Trump’s presidential ambition as a selfish, destructive, white nationalist attempt to corrupt our nation’s democratic institutions. His morally corrosive and deeply hurtful actions throughout the past seven years should have earned him enough scorn and rejection by most Americans to keep him far away from the White House one more time. His retirement to Florida should be permanent.
In addition to the multiple failed domestic and foreign policies, Mr. Trump’s cruel and inhumane immigration edicts hurt and separated millions of migrant families seeking solace in the United States even when they sought asylum, a legal migration process. And his anti-immigrant rhetoric was incendiary and divisive, contributing to four years of instability and increased violence against Latinos, other people of color, and immigrants living and contributing to their communities.
We hope the American electorate will roundly reject Mr. Trump’s toxic leadership and dash his aspiration to be president once again.
