This morning Spectrum reported that fiber optic lines were intentionally cut in a criminal attack on critical infrastructure, resulting in a temporary outage for some residents and businesses in Sylmar and parts of Pacoima, Lake View Terrace and San Fernando.
Spectrum teams are working to repair more than 750 fibers – which did not contain copper – to restore services for affected customers by this afternoon. Today’s incident follows a number of attacks that have impacted customers in the affected areas, according to Spectrum, which has filed a police report with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Criminal attacks on communications infrastructure are a growing issue affecting the entire telecommunications industry, they reported, noting that the broader telecommunications industry experienced 18,327 attacks in 2025, a 59% increase since 2024, affecting more than 11.8 million customers across the country.
Spectrum is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information about the criminal attack that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can contact Spectrum at 1-833-404-TIPS (8477) or reach out to local law enforcement.
