RJI/MIC SF Sun Collaboration

The San Fernando Valley Sun is seeking the community’s help to better cover high school sports in the San Fernando Valley.

In collaboration with the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, Media in Color and the San Fernando Valley Sun are launching a community contributor project.

The project calls for recruiting engaged community members who can provide the Sun with information about high school sports matches and teams in the Valley Mission and East Valley leagues. Specifically, participants will receive forms via automated text messages, which will ask for relevant information such as final scores. This information will then be published on the Sun’s website.

This project aims to reinvent the way high school sports are covered in the Valley area. We believe it will not only provide much-needed coverage of high school sports in the Valley but also foster a collaborative relationship between the Valley community and the Sun.

We are asking interested community members to fill out this form: https://forms.gle/uzxAgxpfHrjy4BHg7
