It is with great sadness that the Najar family announces the passing of John Huerta Najar on August 31, 2023, at the age of 93. As many of you may know, his passing marks the end of an era for the Najar family, as he was the last living child of Jose DeLa Rosa Najar and Esther Huerta Najar. John is survived by his wife, Eva Najar; his children, Jimmy, Johnny, Jerry, Denise, and Yvonne; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
John was born on June 24, 1930, in Pasadena, CA. In 1938, John’s mother, Esther Huerta Najar, moved the family to San Fernando after the untimely passing of his father, Jose DeLa Rosa Najar. John was a longtime resident of the San Fernando Valley. In 1949, John married the love of his life, Eva Ruiz, and they began building their family. He began working for Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company in 1951 and retired from there in 1988. He was also a pillar in the community. John was the President of the San Fernando Boosters from 1987-1988. In April 1993, John was recognized by the City of San Fernando for his participation in the San Fernando National Little League Baseball, Inc., as he had been with the league for 33 years and had been an active Board Member for 27 years. John was also the President of the San Fernando National Little League from 1992 to 1994. During his time with the San Fernando National Little League, he coached or managed many of his grandchildren’s teams. Additionally, he was the President of Saint Ferdinands 50 Plus Club from 1996 to 1998. John enjoyed camping at Emma Woods State Beach as well as at Yosemite National Park. His hobbies included working in his garage, woodworking, welding, bartending, barbecuing, listening to music, dancing, and playing the guitar. He would play the guitar and sing for family and friends. He also joined the Golden Dreams Mariachi Music Group, and they would play at the Los Angeles County Fair. John’s greatest blessing of all was his family. He was a devoted family man and gave his family a great life with many wonderful memories. John will be deeply missed, and his family will continue to carry him with them in their hearts and traditions.
The Najar family welcomes all to the Celebration of Life for John Huerta Najar beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Nino, Compa and Coach.
