After living a long and fulfilling life, Pete R. Prieto passed away at the age of 99 in Simi Valley, California.
Pete was born in Santa Paula, California on June 29, 1924. He attended San Fernando High School, where he graduated in 1942. He married Carmen V. Romero in the fall of the same year. That December he enlisted in the Marine Corp, in the Second Division, where he participated in the campaigns and battles of Tarawa, Saipan, Marianas, and Okinawa. Pete was in the first wave of Americans to occupy Japan. He was discharged in January of 1946, and he returned home to his wife in California.
Upon Pete’s return, he worked at the General Motors Plant in Van Nuys before it opened to the public. Afterwards, he graduated from the Los Angeles Police Academy on June 16, 1949. He retired in June of 1978 as a Detective 3.
Pete is preceded by his wife, Carmen, who passed away in December of 2009.
Pete is survived by his four children Allen Prieto, Marsha Prieto, Roberta Winn, Deborah Paster, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
