GRANADA HILLS (CNS) – A fiery collision involving two big rigs on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Granada Hills today left a person critically burned, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday near Roxford Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.

“One male driver successfully escaped his burning cab, and passing motorists stopped to help extinguish the flames on his clothes and body,” LAFD spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz said in a statement.

The motorist was taken to a hospital with critical burns. No other
injuries were reported.

Some lanes were blocked while an investigation was conducted into the crash.
