North Valley Military Institute Honors Community Veterans

North Valley Military Institute recognized more than 50 area veterans on Nov. 7 by placing their names on a “Honor Wall,” which included a photo, thank you notes and messages from students and members of the parents advisory council.

“The veterans were greeted by our cadets, were given flags, flag lapel pins and got to view our Honor Wall,” said Kay Pacheco-Deitch, a member of the school’s board of trustees. She said the veterans and their guests were recognized at a reception.

Each veteran was escorted by a NVMI cadet carrying the flag of each branch of the U.S. Military. Music for each branch of service was played as they entered the field.

The Veterans were “coined” by NVMI Superintendent Dr. Mark Ryan, U.S. Army Col. Larry Morden, head of the California Cadet Corps and Capt. Steve Diab, Commandant of Cadets. Ryan, Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander, and U.S. Rep.Tony Cardenas also presented certificates for the veterans thanking them for their service

Pacheco-Deitch said the Honor Wall would remain in place for a couple of months, and is available for public viewing. Call NVMI at (818) 368-1557 for viewing times.
