SANTA CLARITA (CNS) – The coroner’s office has released the names of a man and his wife who were killed in the parking lot of a shopping center in Stevenson Ranch in an apparent murder-suicide.
They were 56-year-old Ismael Castro and 51-year-old Lisa Marie Gastelum, said coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz. Their community of residence had not been established and autopsies were pending.
The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road, said Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Sheriff’s homicide detectives are confirming that the victims…were married and died in an apparent murder-suicide,” Hernandez said.
“Evidence at the location indicates the couple exited the FedEx store together. The husband shot his wife and then himself. The weapon was recovered at the scene. The circumstances preceding the incident are still under investigation.”
