Granada Hills High School student killed

GRANADA HILLS (CNS) – Authorities today, (Thursday, Feb.19), identified the 17-year-old John F. Kennedy High School student who was killed when he was hit by a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power truck while riding his bicycle in Granada Hills.

The fatal injury occurred about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at Woodley Avenue and San Fernando Mission Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Officer Sara Faden.

Philomene Ragni of Granada Hills died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Grief counselors have been at the school according to the Los Angeles Unified School District.

“It was a tragic accident,” Faden said. No arrests were reported.

According to a statement by the LADWP, the department truck was driven by an electrical construction worker.

“LADWP extends heartfelt sympathies to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the LADWP  statement said in part.
