ALTADENA (CNS) – The sheriff’s Vital Intervention Directional Alternatives Academy, also known as VIDA, is accepting applications for its fall class in Altadena.

The academy is designed to teach “at-risk” youth between the ages of 11 and 17 1/2 how to make better life choices and take responsibility for their future. Courses deal with defiance, anger, failing grades, truancy, family discord and substance abuse.

The 16-week fall class begins Aug. 22. Students will graduate Dec. 12.
