El Camino Real has a chance to at least share the West Valley championship with Birmingham (and possibly Taft) because the Conquistadors don’t play the league-leading Patriots until next week.
But El Camino Real cannot look ahead. It still needs to defeat Chatsworth on Friday, Oct. 30, to keep those hopes alive.
Like Taft, ECR (4-4, 2-1) has only one loss in league play. Taft’s loss was to Birmingham last week so the Pats have that tie-breaker. ECR’s loss was to Taft. Meaning there could potentially be a three-way tie for the league, and a bunch of coin flips to decide who would be the league’s No. 1 team for seeding purposes in the Division I playoffs.
The Chancellors (6-2, 1-2), who are chasing a possible No. 2 seed in the Division II playoffs, have plenty of incentive to keep winning as well. And Chatsworth has one of the most explosive offenses in City football, making them a tough opponent for the Conquistadors to conquer.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Chatsworth High.
