On Friday, December 11, the Northridge Hospital Foundation and Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital held the 14th Annual “Helping Hands Holiday Jam” for over 300 underserved children.
Northridge Hospital Foundation and Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC), in partnership with the Harold & Carole Pump Foundation, turned an ordinary parking lot into a child’s holiday paradise! Three hundred (300) underserved children from the San Fernando Valley celebrated Christmas with carnival games, arts and crafts, food, a visit and photo with Santa and a bag full of gifts to take home. For the past 13 years the Holiday Jam has been a highlight for thousands of children from our local area elementary schools between the ages of 6 and10. These children are part of the “Title1/No Child Left Behind” program that provides financial assistance to local agencies for the education of children of low-income families. For many of these children, this will be the only gift they will receive for Christmas. It’s a special day for these children to celebrate and just be a kid and for all the volunteers from NHMC and the community who donate and provide “helping hands” for this meaningful celebration.
