NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – A 42-year-old man was killed today when he was struck by a pickup truck while running on the Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatality occurred at 3:40 a.m. on the southbound 170 at Sherman Way, said CHP Officer Alex Rubio.
The pedestrian, a Van Nuys resident whose name was not immediately released, was struck by a red Toyota Tacoma, according to the CHP. The man driving the pickup truck, a 51-year-old resident of North Hills, was not injured.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Rubio said. It was not clear whether he got onto the freeway on foot or got out of a vehicle.
