SAN FERNANDO (CNS) – A man was fatally wounded today in an officer-involved shooting in San Fernando.

San Fernando Police Department Chief Anthony Vairo gave a brief statement, “Today about 11:55 this morning a pursuit was started a few blocks away from here at this location.  And a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Hubbard between the suspect and another vehicle.  Shortly thereafter an officer involved shooting occurred.  

We have one person is deceased at the scene. The two passengers that were in the other vehicle is unrelated to the initial pursuit. One was transported to a local hospital the other person is filing a complaint. That’s all I have at this point.”

When asked about the policemen he replied, “There’s two officer that were involved they are both good, not injured and presently at the police station”

Paramedics were sent to San Fernando Road and Hubbard Street shortly before noon, and the patient died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities withheld the man’s name, pending notification of his relatives. Sheriff’s homicide investigators were sent to assist San Fernando police with the investigation.

One other person was apparently transported to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The shooting occurred at the end of a brief vehicle pursuit by San Fernando police, according to ABC7.
