LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Leaders of some Latino organizations in Los Angeles have announced upcoming town hall meetings as part of a “Regional Call to Action” in response to the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump.

Members of the Latino Coalition of Los Angeles PAC, Salvadoran American National Association, Multiethnic Peace and Reconstruction Fund, Comite de Festejos Centroamericanos, El Rescate and Anawakayiotl First Americans Society gathered on the steps of City Hall to announce the meetings and denounce Trump,

who has pledged to deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

“The city is living in fear. Our neighbors, our family members, even some of us found that we felt unwelcomed and we felt threatened. And so this led to leadership meetings throughout the city,” said Ernesto Hidalgo, a board member of the Latino Coalition of Los Angeles PAC.

The upcoming town hall meetings are intended to be a forum for the community to share its concerns and solutions related to the “Draconian laws and policies that are likely to come from the new presidential administration,” the coalition said.

The next town hall meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 15, at Lafayette Park at 6 p.m., and another will be held Monday, Dec. 19, at Los Angeles Trade Technical College at 6 p.m. The coalition said over 50 organizations have pledged to join their efforts.

“We are facing uncertain times with the incoming presidential

administration and we take nothing for granted. Our community is full of fear and has deep concern about what he may or may not be doing,” said Juan Jose Guitierrez, president of One Stop Immigration.

The coalition has already held one town hall meeting, which took place in East Los Angeles on Dec. 3 at Salesian High School and was attended by City Councilmember Jose Huizar and Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education President Steve Zimmer.
