LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Enefiok Edem, A 32-year-old registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal record, was arrested Monday, April 17, for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he approached in the Valley Glen area, Los Angeles police said.
The assault occurred about noon on Sunday, according to the LAPD.
Edem approached the victim, who was standing near a bus bench at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Oxnard Street after getting off the Orange Line, police said.
Edem offered the victim a ride, which she initially refused, but ultimately accepted, according to the LAPD.
“The suspect told the victim that he could drive her to her friend’s house, but that he first needed to make a stop,” according to a police statement.
“Edem then drove the victim to a secluded area where the victim tried to escape. Edem physically assaulted the victim and then sexually assaulted her.”
Detectives said they believe he may have victimized others and are asking the public to come forward with information by calling Van Nuys Station detectives at (818) 374-0040.
