STUDIO CITY (CNS) — The much-publicized bidding war over the Studio City home used for exterior shots on “The Brady Bunch” has come to an end, with the cable network HGTV emerging as the top bidder.
The network — well known for its array of home-improvement programs — plans to make the iconic home a star again, according to parent company Discovery Inc. CEO David Zaslav.
“I’m excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and will restore the Brady Bunch home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can,” Zaslav said during an earnings call.
“More detail to come over the next few months but we’ll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories about this beloved piece of American TV history.”
There was no immediate word on the final sales price of the property at 11222 Dilling St., but the asking price was $1.885 million. Among those who sought to buy the home was singer Lance Bass of NSYNC fame, who initially thought he had won the bidding war, but later announced that he was “heartbroken” to learn he had been outbid.
Ernie Carswell, the real estate agent who listed the property, said earlier the home “is reportedly the second most photographed home in the United States after the White House.”
Although the home’s exterior is universally known as home to the Brady clan, its interior was not used in the show, since those scenes were filmed on a Paramount Studios lot.
