The annual West Valley League clash between Birmingham Charter High and El Camino Real Charter High has been notable the past few years because the winner of this game has gone on to become the league champion.
The last two league titles have gone to the Conquistadors (3-3, 1-0), who are coming off of a thrilling 21-20 overtime victory last week against Chatsworth. The Patriots (4-2, 1-0) had an easier time last week in defeating Granada Hills Charter, 40-17.
The game was supposed to be a home game for Birmingham. But the school has been installing a new football field since the summer, and the facility still is not game ready. So the contest on Friday, Oct. 5, will be played at El Camino Real.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
