Students from Cantera Elementary School in Reseda and Tulsa Street Elementary School in Granada Hills will present staged productions of two Disney-themed musicals.
The 48 Cantera students will perform “The Lion King KIDS” on April 11 and 12, while the 49 Tulsa Street students will perform “Aladdin KIDS” April 25 and 26, both before invited audiences. The shows are part of the second annual Disney Musicals in Schools (DMIS) program, in partnership with Center Theatre Group, which helps local, underserved elementary schools put on a Disney KIDS musical of their choice.
Both Cantera and Tulsa Street were among five local elementary schools selected this year to participate in DMIS and, through the program, helps each school put on a 30- to 45-minute Disney KIDS musical for their peers and parents. The schools will also be able to present one number from their productions on stage at the Ahmanson Theatre for the Student Share Celebration event on April 29.
