Eagles, Lancers Both Looking to Tilt Mission League Race in Their Direction

Chaminade High did exactly what it hoped to do coming off its bye week: play inspired football and knock off Notre Dame in the Mission League opener for both teams.

Now the Eagles want to remain part of the league title conversation. To do so, they need to defeat the considered frontrunner, Bishop Amat High of La Puente on Friday, Oct. 11.

The Lancers (5-1, 1-0) also won their league opener, edging Alemany (which faces Chaminade next week). They have a high-level running attack, led by senior standout Damien Moore who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown against the Warriors. He also scored the winning two-point conversion with 53 seconds left.

Chaminade (3-3, 1-0) got a big performance last week from running back William Camacho, a senior, who scored three touchdowns in the victory over Notre Dame.

The kickoff at Bishop Amat High School is scheduled for 7 p.m.
