On September 18th, you reported on the two ways someone could get Medicare. This is necessary because Medicare continues to be a confusing topic to most of its recipients.
As a community member of the San Fernando Valley, I was excited to see that there was an article distinguishing Traditional (or original as cited on the article) and Advanced Medicare. What people don’t realize is that Medicare Advantage is beneficial to San Fernando Valley residents because of its ability to coordinate patients’ care and keep their costs predictable for its beneficiaries.
One thing that could really make a difference is if the federal government increased funding for Medicare Traditional to implement tools that would coordinate care for beneficiaries. Such tools could include: an assigned case worker, an easy to navigate online portal, or easy to access locations for communities to receive in-person accurate information about their plan.
