Guide Dogs of America Dogs

Guide Dogs of America received a grant from the Patterson Foundation (St. Paul, MN). The grant will be used toward the installation of an Audible Life Safety Alert System for Guide Dogs of America’s 7.5-acre service dog training campus in Sylmar, California. The system will be installed campus wide and will link to their campus security system and local emergency responders, so they can quickly and clearly alert students, staff, volunteers and visitors of an emergency, provide prompt instructions.

“Guide Dogs of America relies entirely on donations for the funding that enables us to make highly skilled service dogs available to the people who truly need them,”  shares Debra Grossman of Grants and Development. “Although the cost to create just one service dog team is estimated to be over $50,000, there is no cost to our service dog recipients or their families.  Thanks to the generosity of sponsors like the Patterson Foundation, these extraordinary dogs and all our services are provided free of charge.”
