DIY Girls, founded by Assemblymember Luz Rivas, celebrated the opening of their new office in San Fernando at 1201 Truman Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, June 28. In a statement, it was shared that they “are excited to be back in the community they serve.” Those in attendance included DIY Girl alumni, community members, and elected officials.

The DIY Girls’ mission is to increase girls’ interest and long-term success in technology, engineering, and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships. Their office will serve as the main headquarters for day-to-day operations. It will continue to offer after-school hands-on STEM Programming for 5th- 12th-grade girls at their partnering school sites throughout the San Fernando Valley.
