On Thanksgiving morning, more than 7,500 people are expected to don their running shoes and line up along Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood for Hope the Mission’s ninth annual “Drumstick Dash,” a 5K and 10K to raise funds to assist the unsheltered in Los Angeles County.

“Our Thanksgiving Day run is the largest in LA County and helps us raise critical funds to provide services and shelter to unhoused folks,” said Rowan Vansleve, president of Hope the Mission, noting that they provide 6,800 meals a day for adults and kids living in their facilities.

“We are able to provide these meals because of events like the Drumstick Dash and the generosity of Angelenos willing to move their feet so that others can eat,” he added.

The event will begin with an expo at 6 a.m., which will have a registration tent and vendors offering food, beverages and other merchandise. The 5K and 10K will begin at 9 a.m. near the intersection of Lankershim and Chandler boulevards.
