LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Los Angeles Police Department today released the name of the officer involved in a shooting at a Pacoima area motel that left a woman allegedly armed with a knife wounded.
The officer was identified as Jacob Sanchez, according to an LAPD statement.
Officers arrived at the 10000 block of San Fernando Road at around 9:40 a.m. Friday, where they found a woman — believed to be the initial caller — armed with a knife, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The comments of the call indicated the person reporting, later identified as Linda Becerra Mora, was being forced to stay at the location against her will,” according to a police statement.
Officers entered the motel room and met with Moran. During their investigation, she became agitated, according to the statement, and armed herself with a knife, holding it to her neck.
“The officers exited the motel room and deployed to the threshold of the doorway,” police said.
The woman was advised to drop the weapon but allegedly refused and began advancing toward officers.
“At this time an officer-involved shooting occurred,” police said in a statement. The woman was struck by gunfire, dropped the knife and fell on a bed.
Paramedics rushed her to a hospital and a knife was recovered at the scene, police said. Her current condition was not provided.
No officers were injured.
The LAPD Force Investigation Division was investigating the shooting.
