A Los Angeles resident who worked at schools and after-school programs in the San Fernando Valley was arrested last week on child pornography charges, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Julian Kurt Perez, 25, was booked Dec. 22 on one count of possession of child or youth pornography. Perez is accused of creating artificial intelligence-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) involving two female minors.
Authorities have not identified the schools where Perez reportedly worked.
Statistics show a surge in reports of AI-generated child porn images and videos. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has experienced an increase of 9,261% in reports of AI-related CSAM between 2023 and the first half of 2025. The Internet Watch Foundation discovered more than 20,000 AI-created CSAM on a single dark web forum in just one month.
Detectives from the LAPD’s Juvenile Division and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and other investigators are asking the public for information about this crime, and for help identifying additional possible victims.
Perez is a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, is 5-foot-7 and weighs 170 pounds.
