It’s 12 days until the California primary election on June 2, and with the race for the San Fernando City Council moving its election date to coincide with the primaries, it’s important for residents to know where and how they can vote.

All registered voters should have already received their vote-by-mail ballot. Once you have yours, you can choose from one of three options to cast your vote: by mail, dropping your ballot in a drop box or in person at a voting center.

If you’re voting by mail, just fill in your ballot and mail it; no postage is required. Just make sure that it’s postmarked by Election Day.

Two drop boxes are available in the City of San Fernando if you prefer dropping your ballot off yourself. One is located right outside San Fernando City Hall on 117 Macneil St., and the other is in Pioneer Park, right next to the snack bar, on 828 Harding Ave.

Of course, you can vote the traditional way at a local voting center when they open. There will be four within the City of San Fernando, which will be located at Las Palmas Park, San Fernando Recreation Park, Mission City Church and Calvary Baptist Church of Pacoima.

The center at Las Palmas Park will open early on Saturday, May 23. The other three won’t open until May 30. Each center will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. leading up to Election Day, when hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 2.

There are seven candidates vying for the full-time three seats on the San Fernando City Council: incumbents Mary Solorio and Mary Mendoza, and challengers Fernando Diaz, Sonia Navarro, Sean M. Rivas, Flor Sanchez and Michelle Vergara. Once elected, the winning candidates will serve a term of four years.
