Schools and streets throughout the country have been named in tribute to Cesar Chavez. In the City of San Fernando, there is a notable memorial with a bronze statue and mural that honors the late labor leader. There is also a local public school, the César E. Chávez Learning Academies, that holds his name. Now, after allegations of child sexual abuse have been made and a statement released by UFW co-founder Dolores Huerta, who said she too was abused, events planned this month for the statewide Cesar Chavez holiday are being canceled and discussions are underway to consider removing his name from locations. The Cesar Chavez Commemorative Committee is also considering canceling its march scheduled for March 22.
