Led by firefighters, lifeguards, dispatchers, and professional team members, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) and Women’s Fire League collaborated for a one-day camp to expose youth to different career opportunities available within the fire department.
Held on June 13, the Girls’ Fire Camp allowed participants, young girls and teens between the ages of 9 and 17 years old, to interact with fire personnel, learn about their daily duties, be taught the basics of firefighting and be given the chance to engage in interactive experiences, including using firefighting equipment and techniques.
The event is held twice a year: once in the summer and once in the fall. A date will be announced this summer for the fall Girls’ Fire Camp.
