On Aug. 29, the Power of Sight Foundation will be hosting a free community vision clinic at Pacoima City Hall in partnership with Los Angeles City Councilmember Monica Rodriguez and Marshall B. Ketchum University’s Ketchum Health.
“Good vision opens doors – to school, to work, to independence,” said Gianny Cardenas, executive director of the Power of Sight Foundation. “For too many families in Los Angeles, a pair of glasses is out of reach. This clinic brings free eye care straight to the families who need it most, removing the cost and distance that too often stand in the way.”
Between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the clinic will provide no-cost eye exams, consultations with optometrists and prescription eyewear to community members in need. Optometrists and student clinicians from Ketchum Health will conduct comprehensive eye exams, while a mobile optical lab will be onsite to process and dispense glasses.
The event will also feature community vendors, food and beverage offerings and a live activation from media sponsor REAL 92.3, including giveaways and appearances from station talent.
“Every exam we provide here is also a lesson for our students in what it means to practice medicine with purpose,” said Dr. Lisa Wahl, clinic director for Ketchum Health. “They’re learning to be doctors while helping their neighbors see clearly, sometimes for the first time in years.”
Rodriguez will present certificates recognizing the schools, sponsors and vendors supporting the clinic.
