Luis “Louie” G. Albano passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 16, 2026, in Reno, Nevada, at the remarkable age of 95.
Born in San Fernando, California, on August 19, 1931, to Rosario and Nemecio Albano, Luis grew up surrounded by the warmth and energy of a large, bustling family. He was a proud brother to seven siblings: Elva, Helen, Rosie, Tillie, Emilio, Ralph, and Patsy. An athletic youth, Luis was a letterman football player in high school before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War, a chapter of his life he held very close to his heart. His commitment to veterans remained strong throughout his life, leading to involvement in VFW posts in both Susanville, California, and Reno, Nevada.
Following his military service, Luis built a successful and respected 40-year career as a master plumber and pipe-fitter. Known for his strong work ethic and expertise, he advanced to general foreman, successfully owned his own plumbing business at one point, and generously shared his trade by teaching apprenticeship classes and mentoring a couple of his nephews in the trade.
In 1954, Luis married the love of his life, Lydia Flores, with whom he built a wonderful family. He was the devoted father of four children: Rorie, Nadine, Domonic, and Gina.
Outside of work, Luis was a man of great humor and warmth. Known for his jovial personality and love of a good joke he brought smiles to those around him. He also cherished his time outdoors, finding great joy in hunting and fishing.
