Bailee Lynn Rios arrived in a wheelchair at the San Fernando Courthouse Monday, Nov. 2, to set a date for another court hearing as she faces two second-degree murder charges for the fatal September Metro crash in Chatsworth.

Officials said that Rios will remain with a mobility disability indefinitely and that the case could be transferred to downtown Los Angeles for logistical transportation reasons. She is still receiving treatment for her injuries. Her next court date is set for Jan. 6, 2027.

In addition to the murder charges, Rios has been charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and causing great bodily harm. She has pleaded not guilty and is in custody in lieu of $4.1 million bail.

On Sept. 15, Rios allegedly drove impaired on the wrong side of the road and through a red light, when her SUV violently collided into the side of a Metro bus in Chatsworth, killing two passengers – Daniel Castillo, 46, and Gage Weida, 31 – and injuring six, including the bus driver and herself.

She made her first court appearance on Sept. 24, when she was rolled in on a gurney. Due to her medical condition, Superior Court Judge Patrick Hare granted Rios a waiver allowing her to skip routine court appearances.

Friends and family of Castillo showed up for the November hearing, as well as Rios’ father alongside an unnamed woman. According to media sources, Rios was blowing kisses to the pair.
