The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office released the name of the woman who shot and killed her husband and two children before turning the gun on herself.

Thirty-year-old Marine Basmajian, her husband Khajag Basmajian, 31, and their two young children – 2-year-old Alec Basmajian and Ella Basmajian, who was six days old – all died of gunshot wounds to the head. The LA Medical Examiner listed the husband and children’s deaths as homicides.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is continuing its investigation.

LAPD officers had responded to a call of a shooting at the Basmajian home on the 16200 block of Londelius Street just before 8 p.m. on May 27. They discovered all four members of the family dead upon arrival.

Several neighbors who spoke with the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol the day after the shooting described the Basmajian family as quiet and reserved, and expressed shock and sadness over the tragic incident.

Andrea Morales, who has lived two houses away from the Basmajian home for nearly a decade, said she had never seen or heard anything to make her think “anything like this could ever happen.”

Family members of the Basmajians launched a GoFundMe page seeking contributions “to help cover funeral and memorial and other unexpected expenses during this difficult time.”

The page also shared descriptions of the deceased parents and children:

“Khajag was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother and friend. … Marine was a caring mother and wife. …. Alec brought joy and laughter wherever he went. … [He] couldn’t wait to meet his baby sister, Ella, who only lived to see the world Earth side for six days.”
