Congresswoman Luz Rivas presented California State University, Northridge (CSUN) with more than $1,000,000 in federal funding to purchase new computers, upgraded technology and research equipment for the university’s Autodesk Technology Engagement Center (ATEC).
The $1,039,000 in funding will help expand access to state-of-the-art technology and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning opportunities for students from across the San Fernando Valley, said Rivas, who is co-chair of the STEM Education Caucus.
“With this funding, students will be able to explore STEM pathways, hands-on learning opportunities and build the skills needed to become the next generation of leaders and innovators,” said Rivas, who represents the 29th District, during the June 22 funding announcement on campus with CSUN President Dr. Erika D. Beck and university staff.
“I am thankful for Dr. Beck’s partnership,” she added, “and look forward to continuing to work with the CSUN community to secure federal funding that supports education opportunities for our youth and young professionals across the San Fernando Valley.”
During her time in the California State Assembly, Rivas previously secured $25,000,000 for the CSUN ATEC center, which opened last summer. The new funding is part of the nearly $15 million in federal funds Rivas has secured for her district during the current fiscal year.
